So my normal commute of 45 min turned into 2 hours 15 min today. Anyone know of a good route to get to SR-51 when you can't even get to SR-143?

I don't know exactly where I-10 was cut off, but what about this route:

Or this one?

In this instance, bad choices Jason. Everything from the east was either closed or jammed with traffic. The best way from Maricopa IF you had advanced notice would have been from the west.

Take Maricopa Road to Beltline/Riggs Road. Turn left heading north at the light. It becomes 51st Ave in Laveen. Take that all the way to I-10 and head east to SR51.

WARNING if you take this route - it goes through the reservation town of Komatke. When the sign says 35MPH, do 34.

I did to a degree use your first route Jason. I got on the I-10 at Elliot (since I figured I had to go one exit) and it took me 50 min to get to the baseline exit. I thought about going up Priest to go to baseline but traffic was really back up there as well. So I was just looking for a decent alt route in case this happens again. Anyone ever hear what happened on the 10?

It was a gruesome and tragic accident. A young man was hit repeatedly and killed. The report from the police last night is still making me shiver.

Wow, that was backed up pretty badly.

Can you get a google map link of that up here? I would like to see how you do that exactly. Sounds like it would work for me perfectly.Thanks.

Bear left onto S. Point Pkwy off of 48th St. to come out onto Baseline. I use this if there's something going on in the Broadway curve.

Don't worry, you will need to use this route at some point in the future!

48th used to be my standard route - took 10 out of the picture completely.  Did use Priest/56th a few times.  Both have bottlenecks at the Pointe and Guadalupe respectively.  And both fill up very quickly if anything is happening on 10.

Yea I have used Priest but like you said the Guadalupe bottleneck is the problem. I might drive that way this weekend to make sure I can get through th epoint area ok. Thanks for all the help.
