Alert | Person that can see all the taxes we pay already. Do you all know how much of are money goes to TAX?? We are getting nothing for it! The infrastructure of America is nothing? Anyone ask what is going on with my $0.40 a gallon of gas??? I only see more cost. coming from are government. What do you see from 0.40 a gallon a toll road? When we fill the tank up we give $0.40/ per gallon, of are money to are government. Are they accountable for what they do with that money? What has are money done for us lately? Do we build anything, do we have something that helps in the energy crisis that we are in? Show me one thing that are government has done for us in the last 40 years? The incumbents plaster each other and forgive, for nothing that helps this country at all. Change is a joke,... they have all been talking about change for years, and nothing changes. What makes you think any of the persons that are running will do anything different. | | The bailout is wrong. We should not do it. My God this is the stupidest idea ever. Bush is stupid if he signs this. But he has done other stupid things

Alert | The tax on gas makes more sense than many other taxes, It is more like a user fee, the more you drive and use the roads , the more you pay.

Alert | The government misuses our tax money because it knows no other way to operate. For decades, it has lived beyond its means while tacitly encouraging us to do the same. Can't afford the new flashy social program? Buy now, pay later! Can't afford to expand the already-bloated and overburdened Medicare program to include prescription drugs? Buy now, pay later! This wholesale mortgaging of the economic future of this nation has cost us...and we are only beginning to witness this cost now. Interestingly enough, our present Congressional leadership has decided (on party lines) to raise taxes for the vast majority of us next year. Do you make more than $30,000 per year? Standby for a tax increase of at least 3 percent. Evidently this is what our Democratic Party means when they insist they're only set to raise taxes on "the wealthy." What an incredibly unwise move during a time of stagflation. Congress, and especially those within the Democratic Party, could use a refresher course in Macroeconomics.

Oh I pay my dues. I assume that most of us here are members of the taxpaying class. The issue here is that Congress authorized this war, and is now doing whatever they can to back out of that. You know what should be happening? Spending should be cut. The Republicans failed miserably at this task (which is part of the reason they were rightly voted out of power), but the Democrats have done even worse...they have raised taxes on the vast majority of this country (read: the middle class) to fund an expanded social agenda. You see, this isn't about the war at all, despite your attempts to make it so. This is about the inability of our representatives, especially Democrats, to reign in their spending and quit feeding from the public trough. The Democrats have proposed increased social spending and its incumbent increase in taxation during an economic period where we are all going to need every penny we can save. Their actions prove that they just plain don't care.

Alert | Its funny to hear democrats talk about the cost of the war, its all about all the wonderful social programs they would fund with that money, never do you hear them talk about not spending the money (that we are borrowing) in the fist place.
In Fiscal Year 2006, the U. S. Government spent $406 Billion of your money on interest payments to the holders of the National Debt.

Alert | C'mon GilaGuy... You're usually pretty astute when it comes to these things... you didn't see this play coming?
BushCo and the then-GOP-controlled Congress gave tax cuts years ago.. during a very expensive war.. this was a play to appeal to the masses as well as force the next-gen congress to raise taxes... thus playing right into the GOP tactics of "See, the Dems just raise taxes.. WE cut them"
Face it, Dem or GOP.. taxes HAD TO BE RAISED to pay for this war... especially when they were CUT during it... it's not the "liberal" social programs killing us.. it's the war..
What makes me laugh is that the GOP touts that social programs (welfare, food stamps, etc..) are wasting our finances.. but yet say nothing about eliminating the number one social program.. Social Security.. I don't mean "let's keep it and revamp it" I mean end it.. "Here's your money back, find a way to retire on your own like a grown adult"

Read the legislative history on attempts to do something about Social Security. The Reps have tried several times, and each time it was killed by Dems who then used it in the next election by claiming that the Reps were against old people. Do not take my word for it ,do some research. Any efforts to revise Social Security in the future will have to come from the Dems, they have demagogued this issue so much that Reps will not touch it. There is a reason why Social Security is called the third rail (from the third rail in a subway system that carries the electrical power) of American politics, touch it,and you die.

-Shane So the only way to pay for one area of government spending is to raise taxes? Have you considered cutting other government spending? Short term deficient spending isn’t necessarily evil, the problem we have is I think there has been a deficit almost every year for the last 30 years or so. On Social Security all I can say is what world are you living in? The GOP has tried to push some kind of reform for years. Bush wanted to let us invest just a part of our own money for retirement, not even all of it, just a small part and of course he was viciously attacked with all kinds of scary rhetoric from the left. Obama equated letting people invest their own money for retirement as “social Darwinism”, that his the level of fear mongering we are dealing with here. Ultimately you are right the Republicans have failed in being able to explain the benefits of reducing or eliminating Social Security. Government spending falls into one of three categories, 1. Purchases, 2. Transfers, and 3. Debt service. (I have sometimes seen also a #4 as "investments" which are really purchases for future use as opposed to current consumption). In 2005 Transfers amounted to $1.4 trillion dollars, this is not pocket change. Thanks, Higgs | | Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. Alert | I live in the same world you live in... along with the same politico rhetoric BS we've all come to see as "normal"...
I don't want "reform".. which is what the GOP has been trying to do... albeit most of the "reform" has had business influence and added risk... I want SS GONE.. KAPUT... done.. I would have a little more respect for the "starve the beast" mentality of the conservatives if they would tackle the number one social program that they are against...
but the real world is that the retired folks who collect the biggest social program we have aren't willing to be THAT much of a conservative and get rid of it...
and the SS "revamp" game is no different than the immigration hoopla going on... it's all political showmanship...

Alert | The Government is so corrupt these days, as well as in the past, its just that people are waking up to this and seeing it for thier own eyes at this time, and It needs to be seen, Ringo, I believe said it best, that our Government has done nothing for the people at all, except line thier own pockets with Gold, and this has been for the Last 20+ years or More
Kennedy knew this, and that is why people loved him, as he didnt want Secret Militaries, or Secret Societies in Government, he wanted what we all want know and that Peace and better way of life for each and every one of us, to be kind to each other, he said all of this in his Inauguration Speech
Know the Government has us, they have Divided and Conquered all of us. Into a Society that doesnt like each other. Based on Skin Color, Hair Styles, relegious Beliefs, If you wear the latest fashions.....Do you have the latest China Made Cell Phone, the Latest Plasma, and the Latest Blue Ray, Do your Children have the Latest PS3.....This is what the Propaganda of TV has Done to all of us.
Burn it all out of your mind , and remember that we are all Humans and we all have Red Blood, going through our veins, and we all have feelings and emotions, and we all have Parents and Grandparents and family that love us, without question, so why cant we feel the same about each other....Because Johhny has a new Hummer and Sally got a 72 Inch Plasma.....WHO CARES.....WHO CARES......
If people would spend the Amount of time focused on the Government and thier actions against the people, as much as they do on Sports, Baseball and Football, Boxing, BasketBall we wouldnt be here, Im not saying I dont like sports, Im merely pointing out that we as Americans are wasting our energy's on things we cannot change, instead of on things we can change, Stop Watching American Idol, Who Cares, Start watching what your Government is doing, and be concerned for you and your familys. and your friends future. Lets all come together and stay together
Start saying hello to strangers, be kind, Give them a nice smile, or at least give it try it wont kill anyone.
My neighbors, just about get into a fist fight, because a ref made a bad call......During a Game Yet the Governemnt comes out with the Patriot Act, that is going to take away our rights as American Citizens...and put us in Prision, or worse, and we do nothing about it. give me a break here......
They Tax Us for False Flag Wars, they Imprision us , they threaten us with Prision and Legal action, 75% of all in Prision are for Victimless crimes? The police are Tazering American Citizens right and left, Unjustly So
They created the IRS...that is a JOKE...Just to take our money away from us The Irs......Your paycheck is taxed, say $10,000 a Year or more ( using small examples ) and at the end of the year you get back $2,300 and you are excited......Why they just took $8,700 of your hard earned money.
They created the Federal Reserve, there is another Big Joke, Owned by Private Bankers and the Federal Reserve has and will never do anything to help us....Long Term So Destroying them is the only option
They Give Tax Breaks to Bass Pro Shops and Huge Arena's and Wallmart, these companies do not pay State or Federal or Local Tax, they are Exempt, as well as Churches...WHY ...A Church is a Business
One More thing, about our Fuel Prices...Texaco comes out in 2006 and says the Company Profited....Profited $93 Million Dollars.....or was it 93 Billion Dollars In Profit "Whatever it was" and yet we sit here and Suffer fuel prices...what a Joke...and Are not Taxed by the Government, cause the Oil companies or anyone that has anything to do with the oil companies are not taxed, and are Tax Exempt.....WHY
So we each get $600 or $1,200 dollars back to help the Economy, that is B.S
One more thing, for the Ladies as well as the men...Stop shopping at Wallmart, Mervyns, Target, Shopko....We go there just to save a few bucks, and inturn we are promoting the Imports of China and the overall collapse of our USA hard working Americans
Go into any store anywhere in the US, and flip over the tag, and see where it is Made..It is Made in China...Do not buy it
BUY american Please Please Please
If we Ever go to war with China, there will be thousands of Naked people as all of our clothing is made in China...So Stop buying it
