The Alex bus only transports within the Ahwautukee area.  It is free, but they are condering charging a small fee.  It won't help get you to Mt. Pte, from Maricopa, but could be helpful if you need to get around Ahwautukee.  There is a private shuttle that some parents pay for to transport their kids to and from Mt. Pte.  You could look into that.  I am sure there are many carpools, too.
