couldn't agree with you  more. I just don't understand were all the logic goes when people get behind the wheel and think they can just stay in the left lane all the way.

The true sadness comes when as mentioned the logic erodes when the wheel is in hand. I see it every day, the nut in the left being passed on the right, they may not feel stupid but sure look it. If only we could communicate this to ALL drivers and then they would comprehend it. There is actually one sign heading north near the Firebird turn that says "slower traffic stay right" who has the ability to read.

What if you are going 80-90 mph in the left lane and cars are still passing you on the right? 

 if you are in the left lane traveling at anything lower than the speed of light and someone is passing you or behind you move to the right lane. speed has nothing to do with use of the left lane. If you aren't law enforcement, its not your job to monitor the speed of others. If you aer traveling at the speed of light or above society can make an exception for you, and you can travel wherever you want, when ever you want in whatever direction you wish.

 A general rule of thumb;

  If you are in the left lane with no one in front of you, you are causing a problem. especially if someone is behind you.

 Even if someone is in the right lane traveling your speed, if no one is in front of you, you are the problem. if this is the case speed up or slow down and get in the right lane.

A simple rule, stay right except to pass. It's the law in many states. I don't know about AZ but I do it as a matter of common sense and courtesy.

I only do that, if your holding me up in the left lane. 

My question is " Whats the hurry"? I miss the good old days in New York where the speed limit is 55 in most places. Not only is the speed limit more reasonable, but the State Police do a great job enforcing it. If you speed it is most likely because you are an unsafe driver or late for something. If you are late then leave earlier. If you are an unsafe driver then you are the reason speed limits are needed anyway. What is really interesting is that the people that blow past me are waiting at the lights when I slowly get there. It is sad that it takes a few fatal accidents a year to prove that the fast nutty drivers are wrong and the slow safe drivers are right. I pray everytime I take my kids to Chandler that one of you nuts doesn't kill me and my kids. Quit complaining about your unability to drive dangerously!

You're generalizing that people going faster than 55 are unsafe? This simply isn't true. There's nothing really wrong with 65 or 75, the issue comes with inattentive drivers and aggressive drivers. It's absolutely ridiculous to suggest that there should be a 55 MPH cap when other people are perfectly capable of handling higher speeds. If you don't like going the speed limit, please, stick to the right lane where you belong.

I always love when people bring up that they catch up to people at lights. Usually when I "blow past" people going 55 (as if it's my fault they are going under the speed limit) I never see them again. Even for people going 65, if I pass them close to Maricopa.

It's not about getting there faster, it's about being able to do something and doing it well. People who obess over other people getting there faster miss the point of driving sometimes. It's the actual driving that's fun, so being able to go 65 or 75 safely with traffic is a nice accomplishment. It's OK if others can't, but don't force everyone into your incorrect theory.

As for accidents, most occur below highway speed.
