If you use Roundup, it has to be on warm days. The main ingredient requires weeds to be actively growing to work best. If applied on cool days, early in the morning, or late in the afternoon on those 'borderline' days, it won't work well. According to one of those garden guys on the radio, Roundup is best spring-fall, and spectracide is best in cooler weather. I started applying RoundUp in January this year when weeds just started popping, but only on sunny/warm days, and it has killed everything I've hit. Been hitting the weeds every 2 weeks or so, and that has kept things in-check. And a side note on weeds - soil temps are almost warm enough now for summer weeds to start to germinate. Now is a good time to apply a pre-emergent to keep you from having another round of weeds in 4-8 weeks. |
