Why do people go to local doctors? I want the best care I can get so I go to more established doctors in the Phoenix area. I understand conveinience but most of these docs are the only game in town. Do you think they moved here because they are good or because they wanted to make easy money by being in an underserved market?

I'm very happy with my Doc out here in Maricopa. He is very thorough and actually listens to the patient before working on a diagnosis. I also have to say that I have not been seen by a single NP or PA since starting at Agave. Only Dr Macko. That is a major bonus. If he is not sure, he will do a referal to a specialist withouting dancing around with different med experiments. Satisfied local patient here.

But I do understand why caveman commutes to other areas for his appointments. I wouldn't want anybody I know see me walking into a mental health facility to pick up Ritalin.

Nicely done AlanF. I am in the healthcare field (an educator at that) and I love my local PCP.

I found no need to change providers when i moved to maricopa. i have an established relationship with my doctors already, "in town"

I changed to a maricopa doctor. I came from a smaller city where i was able to get in to see my Dr within 24 hours if i needed. When i lived in chandler I had a nasty cold and sinus infection and I called my "established" dr for an appointment. I explained that i was sick and wanted to see the Dr as soon as i could, they told me the first opening was 2 weeks out. That was unacceptable to me. Another PCP i had in Scottsdale routinely overbooked their appointments, more than once i was in the waiting room for over an hour past my scheduled time.

When I chose a Dr here in maricopa I was thrilled to see a small waiting room, and i was in to see the doctor 10 minutes before my scheduled time. My doctor is very thorough and its a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. I've never been happier with a PCP as I am with my doctor here in maricopa.

Why is it that everyone complains that there aren't enough businesses options in maricopa, but then they claim the ones that are open are somehow taking advantage of the limited market?
